ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - The reigning NJCAA Division II pitcher of the year is moving on to wreak havoc at the Division I level.
JCJC sophomore Karli Perque signed with the University of Memphis on Monday.
After originally committing to Southeastern last year, Perque returned to Ellisville to post a 17-2 record this season with a 0.92 earned-run-average.
"When I went on my visit [to Memphis], I absolutely fell in love with it," Perque said. "The coaches reminded me a lot of coach [Bob Herrington] and coach [Chris Robinson]. They're very family-oriented so I know that it's going to be a good fit for me."
"What she has meant for us, I think Jones County has meant for her," said JCJC head coach Chris Robinson. "A place where she's kind of grown as an individual, grown as a player, and gotten better as an athlete as well. So, for her to come back here and finish out here career at Jones Junior College, we couldn't ask for a better ambassador for our program."
