Eight people lose home after Forrest County house fire

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Emergency crews battled a house fire in Forrest County Monday evening. 

The North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene on Meadow Park Lane around 7:10 p.m.

Forrest County Fire Coordinator Chip Brown said eight people lived in the home at the time of a fire, though all escaped. One dog died in the fire in the fire, according to Brown. 

Brown said they believe the fire started in the kitchen. 

No injuries were reported, but the house is a total loss, according to Brown.

    As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
