PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

The Petal Skate Park is set to reopen, just a few days after it closed due to vandalism

It was closed Monday after Petal Parks and Recreation officials discovered a store room door had been broken into over the weekend, though nothing was stolen.

City officials said they'll reopen the park Monday, while they continue to investigate who damaged the door.

"This Monday, we're going to open the park back up," said Brian Hall, assistant director for Parks and Recreation. "We'll have increased security measures in here and hope to have everybody come back in and have a good time."

"It's good news," said Hillaire Long, a skater who goes to the park once or twice a week. "But, we've got to make sure that this kind of stuff doesn't keep happening. We've got to keep our eyes open and look out for one another and that way, these kinds of privileges don't get taken away from us."

Hall believes the vandalism occurred while the park was open.
