The Mississippi Department of Corrections has locked down all prisons in its system for the weekend.

MDOC announced the weekend lockdown Friday, saying that there would be no visitation, commissary or outside recreation this weekend due to security concerns. According to the Tweet, the lockdown went into effect Friday afternoon and movement is limited statewide until further notice.

The interviewing and screening day at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, the state Penitentary at Parchman and South Mississippi Correctional Institution on Saturday would not be affected by the statewide lockdown, according to MDOC.

No details regarding the security concern were provided by MDOC, but this story will be updated as information is made available.
