FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of cancer patients and cancer survivors gathered for a weekend of rest and relaxation at Paul B. Johnson State Park.
The annual "Camp Bluebird" features arts and crafts, boating and lots of social activities.
It is hosted by Forrest General Hospital and Hattiesburg Clinic.
It is the 29th year for the camp, which was the first of its kind in Mississippi.
"I can tell by the time camp starts and by the time camp ends everybody is much more positive and they walk out of here positive," said Joe Marcello, camp director.
"We're family, and if something happens to one us and we post it, everybody starts a prayer chain, so we're good, we're family," said Faye Jackson, a cancer survivor from Laurel.
Campers will be rocking and rolling this weekend, with activities inspired by the classic movie musical, "Grease."
It wraps up Sunday.
