HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Construction of the new Regions Bank Mortgage Operations Center in West Hattiesburg is progressing on schedule, according to Regions' South Mississippi Area president Greg Garraway.

"There's been considerable site work done," said Garraway. "At this point, we have completed the excavation, the site work and we have the foundation almost complete at this time."

The 60,000 square foot facility, at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Lamar Boulevard, will consolidate mortgage operations under one roof.

Currently, that work is being done in three different downtown Hattiesburg locations.

Garraway said the facility should be finished within the year. He said they plan to add up to 90 positions in the two years after the opening.

"We needed about eight acres, but we've actually got ten acres," Garraway said. "We'll have plenty of parking and we've got room for expansion if we need that."

Regions is leasing its three downtown buildings from developer Rob Tatum, who will turn them into mixed-use facilities after the bank moves its operations to the new site.

Regions will, however, maintain a branch on the first floor of its current location on Front Street.
