JCJC’s Woullard honored as MACJC baseball player of week

Jones County Junior College outfielder Luther Woullard apparently felt right at home on the road last week.

Woullard, a sophomore from D’Iberville, hit .600 (9-of-15) as the 10th-ranked Bobcats went 4-0 last week in visits at to Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Baton Rouge (La.) Community College.

For his efforts, Woullard was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges baseball player of the week.

Woullard hit a home run, triple, double and six singles, drove in nine runs, scored three and stole four bases.

In a 12-2 win over Co-Lin, Woullard went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and single. In an 18-6 win against the Wolves, Woullard went 5-for-5 with a home run and four singles and drove in seven runs.

In a 5-3 against BRCC, Woullard was 1-of-4 with a RBI and two stolen bases. In a 12-5 win, he drove in a run and stole a base.

Woullard, who has signed with the University of New Orleans, leads the Bobcats in hitting (.432 batting average), home runs (five), triples (three) and doubles (17) and is second in stolen bases.
