NWS confirms EF-1 tornado hit Lamar County

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The National Weather Service in Jackson confirms a tornado touched down in Lamar County during a round of severe weather on Saturday, April 14.

According to NWS, the storm had estimated peak winds of 95 mph and a maximum width of 200 yards.

After Saturday's storms, we told you how one Lamar County family dealt with a tree that snapped in half and fell in their yard when the storm rolled through.

A person was also hospitalized after their car was blown off the road on State Route 589 in Lamar County.

No injuries or deaths were reported during the storm.
