LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Saturday's stormy weather didn't keep dozens of Laurel residents from attending a community reception for that city's new school administrators.
School superintendent Toy Watts and Assistant School superintendent Kenitra Ezi were greeted at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
The event was hosted by the Jones County NAACP and STARS of Laurel.
"I feel very honored that they would take the time on their Saturday when they could be at home under the covers to welcome me to the community," said Watts, whose first day at work was Jan. 2.
"I've been able to institute a few new things just in the short time that I've been here and everything that I've set out to do has been very well received," said Ezi, who joined the district on Jan. 22.
Watts came to Laurel from Moss Point Schools, where she served as assistant superintendent.
Ezi came from Pass Christian, where she had been principal of an elementary school.
