BAY SPRINGS, MS (WDAM) - Child Protection Services in Jasper County recognized National Child Abuse Prevention Month with a special event at Bay Springs City Hall Friday.
The organization invited local law enforcement officers, the district attorney's office and school and youth court personnel to a luncheon.
The goal was to increase awareness of child abuse and show appreciation for community partners who help prevent it.
"We want to eradicate it if possible, but if not, we want to save as many children as we can by making people aware of what child abuse is and how to identify it," said Lyrita Moffett-Parker with Child Protection Services of Jasper County.
This was the first year for the Awareness Luncheon.
