FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Teachers and administrators at Richton High School gave students a life-saving lesson about the dangers of drunk or distracted driving Tuesday morning.

They hosted a Prom Promise mock accident at the football field. It simulated a two-vehicle crash caused by a drunk driver.

Richton police, local volunteer firefighters and an air ambulance participated in rescue operations, while student actors portrayed accident victims.

It was the first time this type of demonstration was held at the school. Organizers hope it will discourage students from driving impaired or distracted.

Richton High's prom will be held Saturday night.
