HATTIESBURG, Ms (AP) - Members of the WDAM 7 news team were recognized for their journalistic excellence at the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors awards banquet. The annual event was hosted in New Orleans at the World War II Museum on Saturday.
Sports reporter, Taylor Curet, won a second place award in the short light feature-Mississippi category for his "USM Athletes Tornado Relief" story. Former investigative reporter, Ryan Moore, received a second place award for his report on the "Beth Ann Murder Confession" in the breaking news category.
According to the Associated Press website, the contest is open to all AP-member news organizations in Louisiana and Mississippi. Qualified entries had to be published, aired or posted in 2017 to be submitted. Students across both states were also recognized during the contest.
