ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Jones County Junior College hosted the Piney Woods Region of the Special Olympics Mississippi Springs on Friday morning.
Countless athletes from around the Pine Belt participated, hoping to move on to the state games that are scheduled from May 11-13 in Biloxi.
"It's so worth it once it finally gets here," said Jessica Zinn, Piney Wood Region director. "It's rewarding for us and for the athletes that come out and participate. It really lets you know that it was all worth it once you see the results."
"It's alright," said Raymond, a Special Olympics participant. "I want to win and all that stuff."
"I enjoyed myself playing volleyball," said Arthur Keyes. "I enjoyed coming down here to play volleyball."
"I was running super fast," said Morris of West Jones Elementary. "I beat two people. I want to come back."
