HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - An eight-time state champion, Derek White comes to Presbyterian Christian School as a proven winner.

The newest Bobcat football coach was introduced in front of faculty and students on Thursday morning on the campus of PCS.

White spent the past four seasons as the head coach of Ben Lippen School in Columbia, South Carolina. He led the Falcons to a state championship in 2016 and was named South Carolina Independent coach of the year.

"We're just excited to be here," White said. "PCS is a special place. I've done my research and my due diligence, coach [Joey] Hawkins took over a program that was not very good. Coach Hawkins built a great foundation for this program. Whenever you take over for somebody who's a Mississippi legend, you want to be better. Whatever we do, we want to be better. I think we owe it to coach Hawkins and we owe it to the school and ourselves. We want to take the next step."
