Man accused of using fake cash at Pine Belt businesses

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

Sandersville police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for passing counterfeit $100 bills to businesses throughout the Pine Belt.

Investigator Curtis Pitts, with the Sandersville Police Department, said an arrest warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Darius Sumrall.

Pitts said Sumrall passed a fake $100 bill at a business in Sandersville on March 30, and investigators believe he’s targeted other businesses in the area with fake money.

Sumrall is accused of making transactions of more than $1,000 using counterfeit $100 bills, according to Pitts.

Hattiesburg police are also on the lookout for Sumrall. According to HPD's Ryan Moore, Sumrall is believed to have passed counterfeit bills at the following locations in the Hub City: 

  • Revolution Fitness
  • Planet Fitness
  • Mugshots
  • Lovie’s
  • Brackman Mower Warehouse
  • Allbritton Chain Saw & Lawn

If you believe you have been a target of this individual, you can press charges at the Hattiesburg Police Department.
