HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss baseball added to its list of late game heroics Tuesday night at Pete Taylor Park. Bryant Bowen was the hero on this night with his walk-off single, giving the Golden Eagles a 9-8 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Golden Eagles trailed 8-3 in the bottom of the 8th until Matt Wallner collected his third grand slam of the season. This made it an 8-7 ball game. A throwing error, which scored Cole Donaldson, tied the game.
Bowen tied with Wallner for the team lead in hits with two to go along with two RBIs.
The Golden Eagles are now 20-7 on the year. The teams will close out the two-game series at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
