HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - For the second straight year, William Carey will battle the Biloxi Shuckers in an exhibition game at MGM Park.
The Crusaders lost to the Milwaukee Brewers' minor-league affiliate last April by a score of 6-0. Once again, Carey and the Shuckers will play a seven-inning, wood-bat contest.
First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday and tickets are seven dollars. All proceeds will go toward Carey's continued tornado relief efforts.
"Well it gives our guys a good chance to see what it looks like at that level and see what you're up against," said William Carey head coach Bobby Halford. "A lot of kids think that they want to play at that level or can. I think you find out real quick, you see what caliber of play it is. A lot of those guys are big-leaguers that are just sent back down to come back up. So last year, I think that was a good experience for us. It's a good measuring stick because that's as good as it's going to get, that you're going to play against at this level."
