FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - There are some changes voters need to know about before heading to the polls for the next election after the Forrest County Board of Supervisors voted to combine two precincts.
The combining of the Lillie Burney School precinct and the Salvation Army Precinct was discussed and then unanimously passed Monday during a regular Board meeting. The change will affect all upcoming county, state and federal elections.
District 4 Supervisor Rod Woullard said he would rather the voters vote where there is already a precinct rather than create a new precinct where voters have never been before.
"Like it is on here, if 33% of the people voted you're still not looking at 3,100-something people," Woullard said. "I promise you that Burney can handle that."
Woullard said he hopes that this change will help match up with the city's voting lines in that area.
