Shooting suspect turns himself in to LPD

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Tyrone Morgan, 22, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday following a shooting last Thursday in Laurel. Morgan is charged with aggravated assault.

Officers received a report of a vehicle accident on Leontyne Price Boulevard near South Central Regional Medical Center's emergency room around 6 p.m. on March 29. The vehicle was transporting a gunshot victim from the scene of a shooting when it crashed.

Police immediately took the victim to the emergency room, according to a Laurel Police Department press release.

The victim, who suffered one gunshot wound, said the shooting happened in the alleyway between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue, according to the press release. The victim was later transferred to Forrest General Hospital for treatment.
