Police: Man shot over dog in Prentiss

JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A suspect is in the Jefferson Davis County Jail, accused of shooting a man over a dog. 

According to Prentiss Police Chief Joseph Bullock, the shooting happened Sunday around 10:20 p.m. at the Valero gas station on the south end of town. 

Bullock said officers arrested Rodney Sands. He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities said Sands claims the victim stole a dog from him.

The victim was sent to Forrest General Hospital for treatment and was later released with minor injuries, Bullock said.
