COLLINS, MS (WDAM) -

An 19-year-old woman is dead after she was ejected from a vehicle that landed on her, according to authorities. Around 12: 30 p.m. on April 1, the driver of a 2003 Honda was traveling west of US 84 near Providence Church Road when she lost control of her vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Alizae Jones of Taylorsville.

“The vehicle ran off into the median and rolled over,” said Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer, Trooper Travis Luck. “The driver was ejected due to no seat belt.”

Luck says there was an infant in the vehicle who was taken to Covington County Hospital with “moderate injuries.” It is unclear at this time if the baby was in child restraints or not.

Jones was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation into the one-vehicle accident is ongoing.
