Hattiesburg High track primed for state championship

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg's track and field program is one of the best in the state. The girls and boys took the championship at the team's meet earlier this week. The Tigers feature some of the best athletes in Class 5A and are primed to bring home state championships.

"It's been up and down," senior AJ Woodson said.  "But it takes time to get right and I'm working on that but it's some stuff that I gotta fix and it's getting fixed."

Woodson and junior teammate Keirston Paige are two of the top hurdlers in the state.

"Our coach, coach Green, he's happy because we're winning," an entertaining Paige said. "We're winning meets. He's never experienced nothing like that from a group of guys like us. He's real excited. He be trying to get mad but it don't work because we won. It's a real great experience. A good team. We have our ups and downs. We coming together though."
