PRCC’s Taggard earns MACJC Player of Week honors

Freshman Elizabeth Taggard of Picayune was honored as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ softball player of week.

As the Lady Wildcats’ “designated player,” Taggard went 10-of-19 in six games over three MACJC doubleheaders, helping PRCC post a 5-1 mark in those games with five doubles and 11 runs batted in.

In a first game loss to No. 8 Itawamba Community College, Taggard collected one of the PRCC’s two hits. In the second game, Taggard’s two-run double tied the game as the Lady Wildcats went to a victory.

Taggard collected four hits and two RBIs in a sweep of Meridian Community College and then came up with two doubles and a single and six RBIs as PRCC took both games against Coahoma Community College.

The Lady Wildcats (18-10, 11-3) stand in third place in the MACJC standings.

    In an effort to get tornado victims back into their homes, volunteers with the Mennonite Disaster Service have helped build 12 houses. And today, Economy Supply honored them with a luncheon for their commitment to the community.  Roses Bar-B-Que and Catering was provided to the volunteers, which included ribs, chicken, potato salad, baked beans and even banana pudding for those craving something sweet.
