Freshman Elizabeth Taggard of Picayune was honored as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ softball player of week.

As the Lady Wildcats’ “designated player,” Taggard went 10-of-19 in six games over three MACJC doubleheaders, helping PRCC post a 5-1 mark in those games with five doubles and 11 runs batted in.

In a first game loss to No. 8 Itawamba Community College, Taggard collected one of the PRCC’s two hits. In the second game, Taggard’s two-run double tied the game as the Lady Wildcats went to a victory.

Taggard collected four hits and two RBIs in a sweep of Meridian Community College and then came up with two doubles and a single and six RBIs as PRCC took both games against Coahoma Community College.

The Lady Wildcats (18-10, 11-3) stand in third place in the MACJC standings.
