HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg police arrested three people after responding to a shooting early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the 3800 block of Eagle Drive after shots were fired, according to Hattiesburg Police Department PIO Ryan Moore. Police said the suspects left the scene before police arrived, and the victim had been taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder that was not life threatening.

Witnesses said multiple men were arguing outside an apartment on Eagle Drive when several shots were fired. Officers were then dispatched to Point O'Woods Apartments on North 28th Avenue after police were advised that the suspects were there, according to Moore.

Screams were coming from an apartment when police arrived, and officers entered the apartment and arrested three Hattiesburg men. Officers also seized drugs and four guns, according to police.

Erik McFarland, 21, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Dante Myers, 22, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Austin Keys, 24, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

None of the three have been charged for the shooting, but police said they are investigating the connection of the two events. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are pending.
