COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Due to short staffing, the Columbia Animal Shelter are currently searching for volunteers to help with kennel cleaning during the mornings.

Hours of operation at the shelter are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday.

The shelter says help is needed the most on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when they do a deeper cleaning. There are currently over 50 animals occupying the shelter and the shelter says it's a lot to handle along because each animal needs attention.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older, wear boots or non slippery shoes. Also, the shelter is asking that volunteers wear clothing that they don't mind get dirty and/or wet in.

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the animal shelter at (601)-731-2991.
