FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Metro Crime Stoppers offered a reward for information that will help lead to the arrest of the person responsible for a Forrest County hit and run that left one man in serious condition.
Up to $1,000 is being offered for information after the man was struck by a vehicle on South Carnes Road near Mitchell Lee Road in south Forrest County. The victim was last seen leaving Toot's Bar on Highway 49 around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 24.
The man was possibly hit between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. The victim's blue 2002 Suzuki four-door car may have broken down on the side of the road and he was possibly on foot seeking assistance, according to Forrest County investigator John Tryner.
Anyone with information should call 601-582-STOP(7867) or submit a tip at www.p3tips.com. All tips and calls are 100% anonymous.
Emergency crews responded to what they initially believed to be a vehicle accident with someone ejected from the car on Carnes Road just before 7:00 a.m. Saturday.
"When deputies arrived on scene, it did not appear to be a wreck," said Forrest County Sheriff's Office investigator and public information officer John Tryner. "But, it appeared that an individual had been struck by a car. The information that we have been given from medical personnel seems to indicate that he was in fact struck by a car."
Tryner says they are investigating the accident as a pedestrian that was the victim of a vehicular hit-and-run. The name of the victim has not been released and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
WDAM will update this story as more information becomes available.
