HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - University of Southern Mississippi students left their campus Saturday morning and fanned out across the Hub City community to volunteer.
It was all part of what USM calls, the "Big Event."
Dozens of students took part in various community service projects at places like the Salvation Army Thrift Store and Southern Pines Animal Shelter.
USM's Student Government Association and its Center for Community Engagement coordinated the event.
Students volunteered at about 15 different locations.
