FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) - Members of the Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association gathered at a Forrest County restaurant Saturday morning to raise money to help fellow veterans.
The Magnolia Chapter of AFTEA met at Newt's Catfish Restaurant to host a pancake breakfast.
Plates of pancakes and sausages were sold for dine-in or carry-out.
It was done to raise money to help veterans in need and to support scholarships for students at Southern Miss.
"This is for veterans in need, that have a problem," said Marion Walley, president of the Magnolia Chapter of AFTEA. "We vet them through the program at Camp Shelby and make sure that they're good to go."
Walley said more than $1,000 was raised during the event.
