PINE BELT (WDAM) - Congressman Steven Palazzo's challenger in the upcoming June Republican primary campaigned in the Pine Belt Saturday.

E. Brian Rose of Ocean Springs dropped by Newt's Catfish Restaurant in Forrest County to attend a pancake fundraiser for the local chapter of the Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association.

Rose said he's running for Congress because Republican values aren't being represented in Washington, D.C.

"I would not kowtow to the liberal agenda, I would not fund the liberal agenda," said Rose. "When I say I'm pro-life, I mean I'm pro-life and that means I'm not going to fund Planned Parenthood. When I say that I'm pro-Second Amendment, that means I'm going to fight for the Second Amendment and I'm not going to vote on more gun control."

The Republican Primary is June 5th.
