Laurel man charged for shooting into home

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Jones County deputies arrested a Laurel man after he shot into a home Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a call to a home at Rosemary Lane where they found Cody Allen Barefoot, 32, who said that his .50-caliber muzzleloader fire as he was trying to put it in his closet, according to a Jones County Sheriff's Department press release.

The bullet entered the bedroom next to Barefoot's and struck the corner of the bed where a couple was sleeping. Barefoot became belligerent when approached by one of the victims, according to the release.

Barefoot was arrested and charged with shooting into a dwelling house and had his bond set at $10,000.
