COLLINS, MS (WDAM) - A crash involving a train and car Thursday evening resulted in only minor injuries to two people, according to Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder.
The collision happened around 5 p.m. on Ora Swamp Road just off U.S. Highway 49. The road was shut down in both directions while first responders worked to clear the scene.
According to Ponder, a silver Buick LaCrosse was driving west on Ora swamp Road when it was hit by a southbound train. The train hit the front passenger wide of the car, injuring the car's driver and passenger.
Ponder said the police department is investigating the crash.
