American Cancer Society, USM team up for Kick Butts Day

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss health educators partnered with the American Cancer Society on Wednesday to host an event to encourage students to reject tobacco products.

It was part of the National Kick Butts Day, organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

USM students could drop by a display table at Shoemaker Square and pick up information about the negative health effects of tobacco. They could also get a free T-shirt by picking up cigarette butts and other liter around campus.

USM became a tobacco-free campus in January.

The first National Kick Butts Day was held in 1996.
