NEW AUGUSTA, MS (WDAM) - A 12-year-old boy is on his way back to Alabama after taking his father's SUV and driving to Mississippi.
Perry County Sheriff's Mitch Nobles said the boy is from Mobile County, AL.
Nobles said the boy took the SUV and drove into Mississippi, where he eventually ran out of gas at the Circle K convenience store in New Augusta. Deputies were called to the gas station around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to Nobles, the boy was taken to the Perry County Sheriff's Department, where he was later released to his father. The child will not face charges in Mississippi, Nobles said.
