Weapon stolen from Hattiesburg police vehicle

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg police are searching for a suspect after a weapon was stolen from an unmarked Hattiesburg Police Department vehicle. 

A department-issued weapon and other law enforcement equipment was stolen from the vehicle. The exact list of items will not be made public at this time, pending an ongoing investigation, according to Hattiesburg Police Department PIO Ryan Moore.

The auto burglary happened on Sunday night or early Monday morning at the Boardwalk Apartments on Campbell Scenic Drive.

The officer said the vehicle was locked at the time of the break in, but an investigation is being conducted to determine all the facts, according to Moore.
