The Hattiesburg Lady Tigers defeated the West Jones Mustangs 48-47 Friday night.
Head Coach Caronica Jackson says they've been on the losing end twice, and to see her team have spirit and finally come out on top is just a great feeling.
"We've been on the other side of that twice, and it's really not fun," Jackson said. "To know that the girls have worked so hard, and just that fighting spirit for them to stay focused, and to keep playing for each other, and to not quit on that last possession."
Sophomore guard Chelsea Ulmer hit the game winning shot, giving the lady tigers their 1st state title.

"I was just like we gotta get this stop, we gotta get this stop,"Ulmer said. " When I got the ball, and made it I was like...we did it, we did it."
The Lady Tigers finish the season with a record of 26-6.
