HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg city officials met with residents of Ward Two Tuesday night to talk about the Twin Forks Rising redevelopment project.

Some goals of Twin Forks Rising include improving infrastructure and flood control in Ward Two.

The project is in its third phase.

Councilwoman Deborah Delgado and planning consultants spoke about how the project is moving forward.

"We did Phase One which is the assessment, then Phase Two which is the plan for what we want to happen and now Phase Three is how do we make that happen." said Delgado.

"This particular work that we're doing on Phase Three is more of an implementation phase," said Gerald Billes, a consultant with Billes Architects. "It's taking those first two phases and actually, coming up with projects that will then be implemented."

The city authorized the Twin Forks Rising project back in 2013.

Ward Two residents also got an update from the State Department of Environmental Quality on the ongoing clean up of the old Hercules plant.
