PEARL, MS (WDAM) -
After a grueling 19-week journey, Mississippi Highway Patrol Cadet Class 62 will graduate today and officially join the ranks of MHP troopers.
Graduation ceremonies for Cadet Class 62 will begin at 10 a.m. at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl. You can watch the event live here:
Cadet Class 62 started trooper school on Oct. 29, 2017 with 120 cadets. Only 57 cadets made it through to graduation.
Gov. Phil Bryant hosted the cadets at the Governor’s Mansion at the end of February. Bryant said the new troopers “will make Mississippi stronger and safer.”

Cadet Class 62 started training at a time when the need for state troopers in Mississippi was critical. Although the added strength of 57 troopers will help offset the manpower shortage, MHP officials plan to ask the state legislature for another trooper school this year.
