Schedule and scores for MHSAA basketball championships

The Mississippi High School Activities Association basketball playoffs are now in the semifinal round, and eight teams from the Pine Belt are trying to play their way into championship games. JACKSON, MS (WDAM) -

The Mississippi High School Activities Association basketball playoffs are now on to the championship round, and a few teams from the Pine Belt will be competing for a state title. 

Here’s a list of game times for the championship round. Scores will be added after the games are complete.

Thursday, March 8

Boys:

  • Okolona 80, Ashland 59 (Final)
  • Corinth 52, Raymond 64 (Final)

Girls:

  • Byhalia 34, Lawrence County 38 (Final)
  • Pine Grove 56, McAdams 34 (Final)

Friday, March 9

Boys:

  • *Bay Springs 46, Coahoma County 62 (Final)
  • Olive Branch v. Forest Hill (8 p.m.)

Girls:

  • *West Jones 47 v. *Hattiesburg 48 (Final)
  • New Site 19, Ingomar 46 (Final)

Saturday, March 10

Boys:

  • St. Andrews v. Holly Springs ( 3 p.m.)

Girls:

  • Choctaw Central v. Independence (1 p.m.)
  • Murrah v. Starkville (6 p.m.)

      A Mississippi city has agreed to pay attorney's fees and proclaim support for LGBT rights to settle a lawsuit over its denial of permission for a gay pride parade. Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill tells the Commercial Dispatch that aldermen approved the agreement 4-1 Friday. She says the city will pay $12,750, which includes fees for attorneys representing Starkville Pride, the group that sued. The city reversed course and issued the permit after the lawsuit.
