Local organization works to build leadership in youth

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)

The Beta Chi Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority incorporated in Hattiesburg held their annual youth symposium at the W.U. Sigler Center to teach kids the building blocks of leadership with the help of a few familiar faces in the community.

It's called "creating connections: the building blocks of leadership". Members from the police department, the fire department, as well as financial provider Primerica came out to teach the kids the importance of safety and financial responsibility.
Vice-president of the Beta Chi Sigma chapter Linda Littles says, “our intent was to have an event where we can reach children so, they can learn how to be healthy. So, we can teach them a few things about how to be healthy whether it be food, whether it was about finance, or whether it would be about safety.”
Littles says this is an annual event and is open to anyone in the Pine Belt between 8 to 18.
