HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of patients who died this past year while receiving care through Forrest General Hospice were remembered in a special ceremony Saturday morning.
Forrest General Hospice and the Asbury Hospice House hosted an annual service at the Sherrill Community Center.
It was held to remember the patients who passed away and to honor surviving family members.
"This service is for the families of the ones who've passed away on our Forrest General Hospice and Asbury House Service, but also the ones that passed away in the palliative care service at the hospital," said Rev. Ken Roberts, chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Forrest General Hospice and Asbury Hospice House. "This past year, we had over 1,000 who used our service who we were able to minister to and that they passed away on our services."
Balloons and butterflies were released after the service.
