JACKSON, MS (WDAM) -

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker received another major endorsement Thursday.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant tweeted his support for the incumbent, saying Wicker "has been instrumental in cutting taxes, eliminating burdensome regulations, creating jobs and strengthening our border."

The governor's endorsement comes two days after a tweet from President Donald Trump, saying he wants to see Wicker reelected.

Wicker will face two Republican challengers in this summer’s primary election, including State Sen. Chris McDaniel, who officially announced his candidacy Wednesday during a rally in his hometown of Ellisville.

Injuries midway through the 2017 football season thrust Northeast Jones High School’s Swiss-army-knife-of-a-player, Javier Magee, behind center as the Tigers’ starting quarterback. The experience was, to say the least, unsettling. “It was kind of hard,” said Magee, who is known by his nickname, “Fi Fi,” which for some reason lost in time, is spelled “Fa Fa.”
