West Marion Primary School burglarized; suspect charged

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Sheriff's deputies in Marion County arrested a man Tuesday after they said he broke into an elementary school.

Edgar Uriel Rodriguez, was arrested after breaking into West Marion Primary school in Foxworth.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Department, the school reported that sometime over the weekend someone broke into the school and stole an undisclosed amount of money from funds collected for field trips and other school functions.

Rodriguez was located by deputies at his home Tuesday morning, and later confessed to the burglary.

Deputies say a portion of the money that was stolen has been recovered.

Rodriguez was later transported to the Marion County jail and charged with Commercial Burglary.
