Suspect arrested for 2017 Hattiesburg shooting

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg police arrested a suspect wanted for aggravated assault in a 2017 shooting. 

Marquis Dantzler, 25, was arrested during a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop on 7th Street in Hattiesburg, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department. Dantzler was pulled over for a traffic violation when officers realized he had two outstanding warrants from a previous shooting. 

The shooting happaned on April 4, 2017, in the 300 Block of East Florence Street and involved his father and his father's girlfriend, according to police. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Dantzler was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

The experience was, to say the least, unsettling. “It was kind of hard,” said Magee, who is known by his nickname, “Fi Fi,” which for some reason lost in time, is spelled “Fa Fa.”
