HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A New York Times bestselling author spoke at the University of Southern Mississippi Tuesday night.
Wil Haygood participated in the Armstrong-Branch Distinguished Lecture Series at Bennett Auditorium.
Haygood authored a biography of the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and wrote the book, "The Butler: A Witness to History," which inspired the Hollywood movie, "The Butler."
"To write and have it turned into a movie with seven Oscar winners, I still have to pinch myself that it even happened," said Haygood. "It's really been an amazing past five years to me as a biographer and as a journalist."
Haygood also spoke to a small group of students at the University Union Tuesday afternoon.
