State Senator Chris McDaniel held a Facebook live event on Monday afternoon and invited supporters to a Wednesday announcement in Ellisville.

"I think most conservatives in this country feel that our party, the Republican Party, has lost its foundation," McDaniel said. "I think that we feel that it's no longer rooted in something steady and sure."

McDaniel said the event will be held at roughly 12:15 p.m. at the Home Health Auditorium at Jones County Junior College. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m.

"Coming up this Wednesday, at 11:45, Jones County Junior College, I want you to personally, please, tune in, come, come hang out with us," McDaniel said. "My family and I want you to be a part of this. We want you to be a part of an announcement we believe that will hopefully change the way we see ourselves and the role of government, and in way that people can make a change if we just stand together."

McDaniel has said he might challenge Sen. Roger Wicker in the GOP primary, and Politico has reported that he expected to run.
