Two accidents slow traffic on I-59

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Two separate accidents have brought traffic on Interstate 59 in Forrest County to a stand still.

A multiple-vehicle accident occurred in the northbound lane of I-59 on the Bouie River bridge just north of US Highway 49. All northbound lanes are blocked and traffic is expected to be affected for approximately 50 minutes, according to MDOT.

A second multiple-vehicle accident happened in the northbound lane of I-59 just before Evelyn Gandy Parkway exit 69. The right lane of the is blocked and traffic is expected to be affected for approximately 40 minutes, according to MDOT.

Emergency personnel are on scene working the accident.

    The campus of William Carey was calm as the clock struck midnight and the date turned to January 21, 2017. Then-freshman soccer player Taylor Gautreaux turned in at about 1 a.m. She would be awoken two hours later to the sounds of a violent tornado just outside her dorm room wall.
