HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

19th Avenue Baptist Church is showing their winter production “Merry Christmas Hattiesburg”.

The show is a “Christmas musical and drama celebration” telling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Monty Bounds says this is the church’s 7th annual production that they’ve been preparing since early August of this year.

"We get so wrapped up in all the different things at Christmas time, and there's nothing wrong with that, but the true meaning of Christmas is the savior," said Bonds. "That's what we want to let people know that Jesus is the reason that we celebrate this season."

Showtimes are December 16 at 7 p.m., December 17 at 10:30 a.m., and December 18 at 7pm. located at 501 N. 19th Avenue in Hattiesburg.

The event is free and open to the public.
