LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

It's the busiest shopping season of the year, and we are now just hours away from Small Business Saturday.
A couple of locally owned shops in Laurel are prepping for the busy day.

"October is really our behind the scenes month,"  said Emily Green, co-owner of Bella Bella. "We have market stuff rolling in and our warehouse is full and we are pricing it. Everything is priced before November ever hits."

Prepping for months, from gleam to glam, once customers walk into Bella Bella they are hit with the eclectic shopping experience. Green said the store is packed with customers, and the chaos they've been preparing for starts now.

"Small Business Saturday is great for our store," Green said. "Black Friday and Small Business Saturday are our biggest days of the year, so people really do support that. We have sales throughout the store really as a customer appreciation for really all the support we have had all year."

Sweet Somethings Bakery is already heating up sales this holiday season. So much at one point they ran out of several ingredients.

"Pecans, chocolate chips, we were just not prepared at all," Jamie Suggs said. "We did what we did last year and we increased it a little bit and it still wasn't enough."

But, you are in luck after several trips to the grocery store the bakery continued buzzing with business and gearing up for Saturday.

"Everybody that owns their own business, they work really hard," Suggs said. "Anybody that can come out and show support for an item, Christmas gifts small and large, whatever it might be. If you can support  local business that stays here with everybody local. It means so much."

"Black Friday from then on out, everyday is crazy busy, but in a great way,"Green said.  "We are so appreciative of it. We go home exhausted, but we love it. We love seeing people, helping people. It's really a fun time in our store as well as exhausting."

You can plan on special savings Saturday. Bella Bella is also holding a toy drive for the local non profit, The Glory House.

If you bring in a newly unwrapped toy, it will go to the mission of helping underprivileged children this holiday season and you will get 10% off your purchase of regular ticketed items.
