HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A pair of suspects are behind bars after an apparent drug deal went bad at a Hub City motel.

Hattiesburg police responded to the Deluxe Inn at 900 Broadway Drive for a report of a robbery just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

"As officers were conducting their investigation, it was determined that the victim and suspect would both be charged," said Hattiesburg Police Capt. Branden McLemore.

Amos Ball, 21, and Laquan Jones, 19,  were both arrested at the scene and charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

"One suspect, Amos Ball was apparently trying to buy some marijuana and didn't have any money, so he allegedly pulled a knife on the other suspect Laquan Jones,"  McLemore said.

Both suspects were taken to the Forrest County Jail where they will remain until their initial appearance.

The investigation is still ongoing, if you have any information contact Hattiesburg Police or Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-STOP.
