HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Black Friday technically starts the day after Thanksgiving, but for many people, Black Friday starts on Thanksgiving.

People were lined up outside of retail stores such as Best Buy, Target and JC Penny’s as early as 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Eve to be the first to catch the best deals.

“We have a tent as well as a heater,” said early shopper Roslyn Lott. “Being that it wasn't too many out when we first came out, we just decided that we'll sit in the car. Once everybody started pulling up, we came out with our heater.”

Lott wasn’t the only one out early. Others lined up at 4 a.m. Thanksgiving morning to catch all the sales.

One person said they had their Thanksgiving dinner at 10 p.m. and then proceeded to head out at 10:30 p.m.

Many people were out looking for televisions. Best Buy had a 50” 4K smart TV for $179.99, when the retail price is $499.99.

JC Penny’s offered an in-store coupon to early shoppers ranging from $10 off to $500 off.

Retailers started opening their doors to shoppers between 4 to 6 p.m.
